Ramen Crave!

Hi!

I've been watching some TV and I noticed that there's one food that's been hitting the spotlight - Ramen. Maybe because of the rainy season or maybe just because Ramen isn't your ordinary type of food that this dish gets so much hype these days.

So what is Ramen? For those who don't know, Ramen is a Japanese soup dish. It is basically wheat noodles served in a carefully simmered meat-based or fish-based broth, usually with soy sauce or miso for added flavor. Common toppings include meat slices, dried seaweed, egg, and green onions. Each kind of ramen has different flavors and toppings.

I wanted to try one myself so when I passed by a ramen restaurant, I didn't let go of the opportunity. I dined in a ramen restaurant named Ramen Bar. Ramen Bar is located at The Hub, Greenfields District, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City but they have three other branches located on other parts of Metro Manila as well.

Ramen Bar has a nice ambiance, the old Japanese ramen-ya (ramen bar) meets modern interior design style.

Now for the ramen itself. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen. Its description on the menu says: "Soy infused Tonkotsu Ramen topped with tamago, naruto, negi and chasyu". I was actually with my mom so we ordered one and had it split. Even though we had it split, we still felt like we ordered solos, since my bowl was still brimming with ramen! The service was good and very quick. We waited for less than 10 minutes! The ramen was piping-hot when it was served.

The Shoyu Ramen tasted really unique, actually. The broth tasted mainly like flavorful soy sauce, but I tasted pork flavor as well. The noodles were delicious, like they were freshly hand-pulled. The pork topping was delicious as well. It tasted like ham and lechon. Of course, the usual toppings were present; dried seaweed, green onions, and others. But what I really loved was the egg. The egg present in that ramen was not the ordinary hard-boiled egg. It actually had flavor. It was soft, sweet and a bit salty. I just loved it. It was also topped with naruto, mushroom strips (was it mushroom strips? i'm not sure) and sesame seeds. All in all, I would give this ramen a perfect score of ten out of ten. The ingredients all worked together to bring one one big delicious ramen dish. It was priced 280 PHP.

Now I get why ramen is getting all the hype these days. It's apparently not about the rainy season. I think what makes ramen so popular and special is its diversity. There are different types of ramen (each with different ingredients that make up one divine meal) that suits each person's taste and cravings. I definitely recommend it to all food adventurers out there. You'll have the time of your life dining on the various kinds of ramen. And what better way to have your ramen than having one at Ramen Bar! You'll surely enjoy the experience!

I definitely enjoyed my ramen experience at Ramen Bar and I can't wait to have more!

May every sip of soup be flavorful,
