Get Goosebumps with Revenge of the Witch

Have you ever read a book that sent chills down your spine but you'd still keep on reading even though you're afraid of what might happen next? If you haven't, this book is the right one for you! And if you have, this book will definitely do just that. The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch is a novel you can't miss if you long for that "spooky" read.

  • Title: The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch
  • Author: Joseph Delaney
  • Genre: suspense, fantasy. horror
  • Pages: 343 pages
  • Series: The Last Apprentice
"For years, Old Gregory has been the Spook for the county, ridding the local villages of evil. Now his time is coming to an end. But who will take over for him? Twenty-nine apprentices have tried—some floundered, some fled, some failed to stay alive.

Only Thomas Ward is left. He's the last hope, the last apprentice."

Once I have started reading it, I literally cannot put it down! The suspense kept me up even if I happen to feel sleepy. The synopsis says everything you need to know about what the book is all about. Tom Ward is the Spook's apprentice. The Spook is in charge of putting all evil things like witches, boggarts, etc. in their rightful places. While on his training, things get a little messy. You might think that he might just have done a clumsy mistake like forgetting to feed the dogs, or forgetting to clean the house, but no. He just had to release an ultimately powerful witch that the Spook had imprisoned years ago. Think of it this way, the witch, known as Mother Malkin, is so powerful that she is better left imprisoned alive than killed since its too easy for her to come back from the dead and unleash her wrath. With the Spook's help (or not), he must face the witch and put an end to her evil schemes.

Joseph Delaney really did a good job on holding the suspense. He's good at ending a chapter with a really good cliffhanger so that if you'd say "I'll just read one last chapter before going to bed" or "After this chapter, I'll put this book down and get on with my life for now", believe me, you're going to have a bad time. Plus, the spooky drawings in this book will help you get in that eerie atmosphere. The cover itself tells you that Revenge of the Witch is a spooky read.

For those who loves a fright before going to bed, this book is just for you. And for those who like books with lots of sequels, this book hits the mark! With thirteen books in the series, you'll experience the fright thirteen times longer!

That's it for this book review! 'Til then, stay safe and always keep reading! :)

May ghasts not disturb your sleep,
